Who are we?

We are Nova Scotians. together We advocate for a livable Basic Income through outreach, education, and informed conversation.

We believe a Basic Income is a human right and should be available to all who need it.

Poverty in Nova Scotia

Poverty is a persistent and unnecessary social ill in Nova Scotia that severely impacts the health and well-being of Nova Scotians. Our welfare programs are inhumane, punitive, oppressive and insufficient. Precarious part time, short term and low paying jobs abound causing many to live from pay check to pay check. Increasing automation threatens jobs, pandemics challenge our public health systems, the rise of the ultra-right threatens our democracy, and climate change and environmental degradation highlight the critical need to transition to greener, more sustainable practices. These challenges must be met with new policies. A Basic Income is a cornerstone to a more just and equitable society.
